About Glades Jet

My Name is Capt. Jose Carbonell, I am a US Coast Guard Master 50 ton licensed and Insured captain. I have been fishing for largemouth bass in south Florida since I was a kid. My passion for largemouth bass has led me to becoming a part-time guide and be able to share my passion with others. I work full time at one of the best custom sportfish building company in the country Merritt Boat and Engine Works. I guide on the weekends and provide once in a lifetime experiences for my customers.

Through my career in the marine industry I have met many amazing people.  Two in particular Capt. Vinnie Lasorsa and Sarah Lasorsa, they are the founders of Freedom Fighter Outdoors; A non-profit organization that caters to combat wounded and PTSD Veterans. The organization takes veterans on outdoor events such as Offshore and Inshore fishing, and Hunting events. One day I invited Vinnie to fish a tournament with me and I made the suggestion on putting together a bass tournament for the veterans. He liked the Idea so I went to my next club meeting and had 10 volunteers to take out 13 veterans. After that tournament both veteran and volunteers absolutely enjoyed it! I have always wanted to find a way to give back to our nations veterans and know that my hard work goes directly to them.

 I became so passionate about the organizations mission that I dedicated my bass boat and they gave me the honor of being their Ambassador. Together we have raised money and created a pledge that allows me to take one to two veterans out fishing a month! It has become a great success!
